Improve your Risography skills at Studio Vlinderboom

Dasha and Diede of Studio Vlinderboom are excited to invite you to this advanced Risography workshop! 

This workshop is designed to help you refine your Risography skills and create a three to five colour Risograph print on A4 paper. At the end of the session you'll have 10 copies of your final design.

You'll need to prepare a sketch or idea for your poster before the workshop. During the session, Diede and/or Dasha will explain the possibilities of the screen and advanced settings, followed by a round of one-to-one feedback on your sketches. This will help you understand how to think in layers and prepare them effectively.

You'll then choose three to five colours and start drawing the layers for your print. Throughout the process there will be opportunities for feedback and test prints to make sure your design is progressing as planned.

Once your layers are ready, you'll move on to printing on the Risograph machine. After printing, there will be a small exhibition where everyone can see and discuss the finished work. You'll also have the opportunity to swap prints with other participants, so you'll have a variety of designs to take home with you.

During the workshop you'll use a variety of drawing tools, a light box for aligning layers and the Risograph GR1750 machine. You'll learn advanced Risography techniques, including mixing multiple colours, planning textures and applying the skills you've learned. 

What makes this workshop unique is the focus on analogue Risograph printing using a Japanese stencil press. The workshop will be led by experienced illustrators and will take place in the creative environment of Baggerbeest, a new cultural hotspot on the island of Zeebrugge.
