Join ceramicist Helen in this creative workshop where you will learn hand building techniques and create your own sculptural vessel.
The workshop begins with an introduction to Helen and her brand. Next you will learn about working with clay and different hand building techniques such as slab building and using plaster mould formers to create a unique sculptural piece using the tools and equipment in the ceramics and glaze kit provided.
You will have all the technical guidance and support you need for the session as Helen will be on hand to help.
Experiment with slip colours, glaze materials and oxides. Helen will demonstrate brush techniques, mark making and illustrative application. Discover some of the exciting chemistry in glaze materials.
Helen takes the pieces away at the end of the session to be bisque fired and glaze fired, finishing your design.
You can pick your work up from Helen's studio. Or it can be sent out to you for a post and packaging fee of £4.50.

No experience required. You will be able to go at your own pace and level. Clay is very good at absorbing any other artistic skills or ideas you have; such as drawing, painting, textiles, pattern, texture, colour.
Rencontrez Helen Lucas Ceramics
Ceramicist
Helen Lucas is a Brighton based ceramicist with over 20 years of experience working with clay and glaze. Her work has been exhibited nationally and she was recently featured on the Great Pottery Throw-down.
Helen graduated with a degree in craft design but is largely self taught in ceramics and glaze and her work is best known for it’scomplex melting glazes and quietly provocative designs. She brings her unconventional and warm approach to teaching
workshops so no one comes out of her workshop with the same piece and all the
confidence to have a another go.
Helen particularly enjoys encouraging participants to be creative and to make something they can be proud of.
