Join Clunie for an exciting workshop where you'll discover the art of ornamental woodcarving and create your own unique decoration.

Your day will start with an introduction to the tools and how to use them safely and effectively. Clunie will guide you through understanding the properties of wood, including grain direction. 

The practical part of the workshop will focus on shallow relief and chip carving techniques. Clunie will provide step-by-step instructions to ensure you gain confidence and skill as you work on your project. By the end of the session you'll have a beautifully carved decoration to take home.

Throughout the day you'll have access to suitable timber for your carving project and a variety of carving tools. Tea, coffee and cake will be provided to keep you refreshed and energized. You'll also receive documents with resources to help you develop your woodcarving practice with details of what you learned and tool and timber suppliers.

Note: No prior carving experience is necessary. Complete beginners will be guided through the basic techniques, while more advanced students will be given guidance on how to refine their skills further. But if they are too advanced, it is advised to book a one-on-one master class. They should contact the artisan ahead of booking to discuss possibilities within the class time.Participants under age 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult who will be responsible for their wellbeing.
