  • Join textile designer Helen Rawlinson for a creative workshop to explore the exciting world of screen printing on fabric!

The workshop begins with a warm welcome to Helen and her studio followed by a detailed demonstration of screen printing on fabric, explaining the basics of the process and the tools you'll be using.

Then it's time to get creative! You'll start with a test print, cutting out stencils and trying out different ideas. Once you're comfortable, you'll design and create your own stencil for your final print, either on a tote bag, tea towel or another light cotton or linen item you've brought with you. If time allows, you can experiment with layering two colors to add depth and dimension to your design.

Finally, dry and fix your print before you're ready to take your unique creation home!

    Informations pratiques

Printing can be a messy business with the occasional splatter of ink. I do have aprons but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer and please wear clothing you don't mind getting ink on to, just in case (avoid white trainers/new shoes!)

You are welcome to bring any visuals with you to inspire your paper cutting. Consider Matisse style cut outs, black and white vector art, simple silhouettes and basic shapes. Avoid fine lines and half tone imagery. Don't worry if you come without anything as I have plenty to inspire you at the studio but do get in touch if there is a particular theme you'd like to explore and I'll be happy to help.
