  • During this hands-on workshop, you'll embark on an exciting culinary journey, with Ania, one of E5's resident chefs teaching alongside one of E5's many talented and experienced bakers.

    Begin with an introduction to the captivating world of sourdough bread baking. Discover the fundamental principles and techniques that form the foundation of this ancient craft.

    Learn the secrets of creating and maintaining a lively sourdough starter, ensuring its perpetual vitality. Gain insights into the symbiotic relationship between flour, water, and wild yeasts that give sourdough its distinctive flavor and texture.

    Master the techniques of mixing shaping, and baking Turcoman-style sourdough flatbread, crafting perfect loaves of artisanal delight. Uncover the art of achieving the ideal dough consistency, shaping it with finesse, and achieving soft but pliable bread through proper baking techniques.

    Immerse yourself in the creation of tantalising mezze dishes, such as beetroot borani and dukkah, labneh and za'atar, babaganoush, carrot muhammara, pea and chickpea falafels and hummus. Explore the harmonious blend of flavours, textures, and aromas that make these Middle Eastern delights so enchanting.

    Conclude the workshop by gathering around a communal table, savouring the fruits of your labor in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Share stories, laughter, and culinary experiences while enjoying the delightful combination of freshly baked flatbreads and the delectable mezze creations.

    Throughout the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to work with various culinary tools and equipment, including blenders, pestle and mortars, sharp knives and chopping boards, rolling pins, and hob and frying pans. E5's skilled bakers will expertly bake the flatbreads in a commercial bread oven, ensuring exceptional results.

    E5 takes pride in using premium flour and thoughtfully sourced ingredients, prioritising both flavour and sustainability.

    You'll leave with a bountiful harvest of your own handmade sourdough flatbreads and the chance to enjoy any leftover mezze.

    Ania was a brilliant host and chef. Her workshop was really clear and inclusive, realaxed and fun. We learnt loads. Dan the baker was great too in his explanation of sour dough care and production. We had a feast from our hard work at the end and now we know what's for lunch for the next few days!
