  • Join Lauren and Daniela for an immersive 4-hour workshop that promises to transform your understanding and appreciation of metalwork.

Begin your journey by diving into the intricacies of the steel net - unraveling the magic behind steel blanks and the tools and software that bring them to life. Flex your fingers and dive into the world of metal bending, where you'll master the box press, decode bend tolerances and meticulously fold your tin's base and lid.

Next, discover the craft of welding, as you're introduced to the MIG, TIG, and ARC processes. First, you'll test it out by practicing on sample pieces. Then, when you're ready, let the sparks fly as you weld your tin's seams and dividers. Bring perfection to your creation by grinding welds, smoothing out rough edges, and ensuring a flawless, scratch-free surface.

Next, attach your hinges using the TIG welder, followed by a polishing session that will leave your tin gleaming. And to cap off your masterpiece, you'll have the option to seal it, ensuring its longevity and resistance to rust.

Work with many techniques and tools - from the box presses and welders to grinders, dremels, and more.

You'll walk away with more than just memories: a sleek, handmade metal pencil holder crafted entirely by you.

    Metal workers

Daniela Rubino and Lauren Wilson are experienced metalworkers and artists. Both trained at prestigious institutions: Central Saint Martins and The Slade School of Fine Art. Their combined talents in welding and fabrication led to the establishment of RubinoWilson, reflecting their deep-rooted passion and proficiency in the craft.

Their workshop, a large and professional space, resonates with the buzz of creativity and the hum of machinery.

Beyond their day-to-day steelworking ventures, they're also dedicated to community outreach. Through their initiative, Ore Projects, backed by Arts Council England, they offer local youths aged 16-25 the opportunity to learn metalwork. This programme not only provides valuable skills but also aims to diversify a typically male-dominated field.

Both kind and knowledgeable, Daniela and Lauren are not just skilled steelworkers but are also mentors determined to pave the way for the next generation of steelworkers.
