  • In this three-hour workshop, guided by Annewil, participants are invited to immerse themselves in the art of upcycling, transforming garments with a past life into charming baby suits or children's trousers.

The workshop begins with a critical examination of how the baby suit or trouser pattern can best fit onto the chosen garment or fabric. This initial step is crucial in ensuring that the final product not only looks aesthetically pleasing but also fits comfortably. Annewil assists participants in making the most out of their selected garments, whether it's a men's blouse or a pair of jeans.

Next, participants move on to cutting the pattern from their fabric. This stage demands precision and care, skills that Annewil adeptly teaches. Whether the participants bring their own garments or select from the workshop's collection, they learn to cut patterns efficiently, making the most of the material at hand.

The core of the workshop involves applying various sewing techniques to assemble the garment. Participants gain practical experience in sewing, guided by Annewil's expertise. This includes learning to handle different fabrics and understanding the nuances of garment construction.

The final touch is added using an overlock machine, which gives the garments a professional and durable finish. This step not only enhances the look of the baby suit or trousers but also ensures that they withstand the wear and tear of children's activities.

By the end of the session, participants leave with a unique and personally crafted upcycled baby suit or children's trousers, suitable for children up to 5 years old. This workshop is not just about learning sewing techniques; it's an exercise in sustainability, creativity, and the joy of giving old clothes a new lease of life. Participants are encouraged to bring their own clothes to upcycle, adding a personal and meaningful touch to their creations. If that's not possible for you, Annewil will provide a piece.

    Wecandoo - Rencontrez Annewil

    Rencontrez Annewil

    Textile designer

Annewil, the founder of Atelier Nuna, is a distinguished textile designer whose creative journey expanded during her first pregnancy. This period marked a resurgence of her passion for sewing and embroidery, leading her to innovate in the realm of children's clothing. Utilising her time and resources, Annewil skillfully repurposed a collection of her own garments, which had become unsuitable during pregnancy, into charming baby outfits for her daughter. This process not only showcased her adeptness with the sewing machine but also her commitment to sustainable practices.

Atelier Nuna, named thoughtfully after her children Nala and Numi, epitomises the essence of handcrafted, recycled, and waste-free fashion. Each creation is a testament to Annewil's dedication and skill, crafted in her Amsterdam-based atelier. These unique pieces reflect a blend of functionality and whimsy, designed for the joys of childhood – from running along beaches to lounging in tall grasses.

The ethos of Atelier Nuna is deeply rooted in a zero-waste and circular approach to fashion. Annewil's mission extends beyond the aesthetic appeal of the garments. She aims to reinvigorate existing fabrics, transforming them into wearable pieces for children. This approach not only embodies a sustainable fashion philosophy but also contributes to a more environmentally conscious world for future generations. Through Atelier Nuna, Annewil aspires to make a meaningful impact, offering clothing that celebrates playfulness while adhering to principles of sustainability and love for the planet.
